Learn to Curl
The Learn to curl program for the upcoming season runs from October 23, 2014 to April 16th 2015 on Thursday evenings from 6:30-8:30 pm. and is designed to introduce new members to our club and the sport of curling. The first 10 weeks involves a mix of classroom training and on-ice practice covering all aspects of the game from delivery and brushing to communication and strategy. The remaining 12 weeks is devoted to a new Novice Curler League with individuals forming teams and playing a series of games against fellow LTC participants. On-ice coaching continues during this league play providing ongoing feedback on technique as well as advice on strategy, broom placement and brushing calls.

An important underlying philosophy behind the program is that we create a relaxed, non-threatening environment and that participants have fun! We have an excellent pool of instructorswho are knowledgeable, supportive and welcoming.

The cost for this year's program is $200 (plus HST) for the whole season - a great deal and a very nice way to spend those cold winter months. The response has been overwhelming that past two seasons, so get your application in early to avoid disappointment.

Exciting News from University Championship!

Trent Excalibur men's team of skip Mike Bryson, 3rd Jason Whitehill, 2nd Adam Gagne, lead Mike Kean and alternate Chris Whitehill won the silver medal at the recent OAU Provincial Championship.  This means they've qualified to compete at the CIS/CCA National Championship in Kamloops, BC March 19-24, 2013.  Congratulations to the team and coach Brad Kidd, who was selected as the Men's Team Coach of the Year!

Also qualifying for the National championship were Stephanie Thompson (Bruce & Krista's daughter) whose Western Mustangs team won the women's gold medal and Edward Cyr (Gisele's son) who plays with the men's gold medal winning Waterloo Warriors team.

And that's not all! Edward and Mike Kean made the All-Star Team.

Congratulations to everyone on a job well done in a very experienced and skilled field. Dave Farnell said there were dozens of players competing who have provincial and national experience, and even a number who've played at World competitions .  To show the depth of the field,  two returning CIS/CCA national champions on the Queen's men's team failed to qualify for the Nationals this year after losing to Trent in the semi-finals and to Carleton in the bronze medal game.
